Job Description

Job Title: Person in Charge - Nursing Home

Location: Co. Roscommon

Salary: €70,000 - €80,000 (depending on experience)

Tenure: Permanent, full time position

 

Position Overview:

As the Person in Charge of our client's nursing home in Roscommon, you will assume responsibility for directing and coordinating the management of the facility. Your primary objective will be to establish and maintain a standard of residential care and activities in accordance with the highest national and international practices, while efficiently utilizing available resources. You will oversee the management of all staff to ensure compliance with our client's standards and statutory regulations, fostering an environment of respect and equality in relationships with residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and coordinate the management of the nursing home to ensure the delivery of high-quality residential care and activities.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with residents based on respect and equality, ensuring their needs and preferences are prioritized.
  • Ensure compliance with our client's standards and statutory regulations in all aspects of residential care facility management, including staffing, care provision, and safety protocols.
  • Manage and coordinate all staff to establish and maintain the highest standard of care as set out by our client and regulatory bodies.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance the quality of care and ensure the safety and well-being of residents and staff.
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, regulatory bodies, and community organizations, to optimize resident care and support services.
  • Provide leadership and support to staff, fostering a positive work environment and promoting professional development opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the nursing home, implementing improvements as necessary to achieve excellence in care provision.
  • Manage budgetary allocations and resources effectively to ensure the financial sustainability of the facility.
  • Stay updated on developments in the field of gerontology, dementia care, and healthcare management, incorporating best practices into the operation of the nursing home.

Educational Requirements:

  • Third Level Degree in Nursing.
  • Registered with the NMBI and hold an active PIN.
  • Current and valid certifications in Infection Control, Manual and Resident Moving & Handling, Medication Management, CPR, Dementia, and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults (training can be provided if required).
  • Post-registration qualification in healthcare management or equivalent is essential. In the absence of such a qualification, the appointee will be required to undertake such training.
  • Post-registration qualification in Gerontology or Dementia Care is desirable.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Minimum three years' previous work experience in a management capacity is essential.
  • Minimum three years' experience in the area of nursing of older people within the last six years.
  • Minimum six years' post-registration nursing experience.
  • Proven clinical competence and passionate about delivering outstanding care to older people.
  • Full Irish Driver’s License and access to own transport is essential.
