Job Description

Dietitian in Renal Therapy

Location: Wexford and Portlaoise, Ireland

Nuvo Health Care is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Specialist Renal Dietitian. This role involves close collaboration with Clinical Nurse Managers across clinics in Wexford and Portlaoise to ensure the provision of comprehensive care to patients diagnosed with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, diagnose, and treat dietary and nutritional problems specific to patients with ESRD.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans that comply with evidence-based guidelines.
  • Work closely with Clinical Nurse Managers and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated patient care.
  • Educate patients and their families on managing their condition through diet and lifestyle changes.
  • Continuously evaluate and monitor the nutritional status of patients, adjusting dietary plans as necessary to prevent complications and support optimal health outcomes.

Qualifications Required:

  • B.Sc. in Human Nutrition and Dietetics recognized by the Department of Health.
  • Diploma in Dietetics and Nutrition from Dublin Institute of Technology/BDA Renal Course or an equivalent qualification.
  • Qualifications obtained outside the Republic of Ireland must be validated by the Dept of Health.
  • Registration with CORU as a Dietitian.
  • Proficiency in English (both verbal and written) is mandatory.

Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 3 years of post-graduate work experience in renal care is essential.

Professional Knowledge and Clinical Competencies:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of renal dietetics and renal replacement therapies.
  • Familiarity with haemodialysis patient care and nutritional management based on best practice.
  • An excellent understanding of renal-related guidelines.
  • Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development in the field.
  • Strong ability to deliver a quality, patient and customer-centred service.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use problem-solving processes effectively.
  • Competence in developing evidence-based policies and protocols for the nutritional and dietetic management of patients with renal conditions.
