Job Description

Overview:

Nuvo Healthcare are seeking a dedicated Assistant Person in Charge (APIC)/ADON to join our client's team in Clonmel, Tipperary. The APIC will be responsible for leadership and organisation within the nursing home, including maintaining a standard of residential care that is in line with the best national and international practices, utilising the resources available. The APIC will support the PIC of the nursing home in managing staff and ensuring standards set by our client and national standards are adhered to, providing support where necessary to achieve best practices. The APIC will also focus on building and maintaining relationships with residents based on respect, understanding and equality. The APIC will report to the PIC, and in the absence of the PIC will assume the roles and duties as outlined by the Health Act 2007, regulations and HIQA National Standards. This role will require the successful candidate to be available for day, night and weekend shifts as required.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • To support the PIC in overseeing operations, organisation and management of the nursing home, including providing leadership and clinical supervision to enhance standards and team morale.
  • Maintain a caring environment, which is person centered and supports the physical, emotional, social and spiritual individual needs of the resident.
  • Ensure safeguarding measures are a priority, ensuring to take steps to protect residents from the risk of neglect or abuse of any form, and raise any concerns via the appropriate reporting mechanisms.
  • Deliver a high standard of care and ensure all practices reflect the privacy, dignity and respect of residents.
  • Ensure that standards are met to ensure residents maintain an excellent quality of life, while being resident in the nursing home.
  • Act as a support for nursing staff, keep up to date in changes in nursing practices, support and contribute to professional and service development.
  • Create a positive learning environment, by encouraging and supporting open discussions amongst staff.

 

Requirements:

  • Be registered and hold an active PIN with the NMBI.
  • Have a minimum of 6 years post registration experience, with a minimum 2 years in a nursing home environment.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years experience in a management position.
  • Hold a post-registration healthcare management qualification (QQI Level 6 or above). Candidates without this qualification but whom have additional desirable experience will also be considered on the condition that the successful candidate will undertake such training.
  • Experience in leading, motivating and supporting a team.
  • Post-registration qualification in gerontology or dementia care is desirable, but not essential.
  • Proven clinical competence and a clear passion for providing high standards of care to older adults.
