Crewit Resourcing is recruiting an experienced Bus & Truck Workshop Manager to lead the daily operations of a busy commercial vehicle workshop specialising in buses, trucks, and fleet vehicles. This is a senior, hands-on role requiring strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and a focus on safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
Role Overview
The Workshop Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient, safe, and compliant maintenance and repair of commercial vehicles while leading a team of technicians and support staff. The role focuses on minimising vehicle downtime, maintaining high workmanship standards, and meeting operational and performance targets.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day running of the workshop and plan and allocate work to technicians based on skills, priorities, and deadlines
- Monitor productivity, efficiency, and turnaround time and ensure servicing and repairs comply with CVRT standards and RSA regulations
- Lead, motivate, and develop mechanics, fitters, apprentices, and support staff
- Conduct performance reviews, training needs analysis, and toolbox talks
- Manage staff rotas, attendance, and disciplinary matters in line with policy
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company procedures
- Carry out risk assessments and ensure proper use of tools and equipment
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality control
- Act as a key point of contact for fleet customers, drivers, and internal stakeholders
- Handle technical queries, progress updates, and issue resolution professionally
- Control workshop costs, labour hours, and consumable usage
- Oversee parts ordering, stock levels, and supplier relationships
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting
- Ensure accuracy of job cards, service records, and compliance documentation
- Use workshop management systems to track jobs, hours, and KPIs
- Provide regular performance reports to senior management
Requirements:
- Proven experience managing a commercial vehicle, bus, or truck workshop
- Strong technical knowledge of HGV / PSV maintenance and diagnostics
- Experience leading and developing workshop teams
- Solid understanding of CVRT, RSA, and Irish transport regulations
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
Desirable
- HGV / PSV trade qualification or equivalent
- Experience working with fleet operators or public service vehicles
- Familiarity with workshop management software
- CPC or transport compliance knowledge
