Senior Assistant Technical Services Officer

Location: Cork
Reporting to: Estates / Energy Manager

Role Purpose

To deliver technical, engineering, and project management services across estates, with a focus on energy efficiency, sustainability, and capital project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of energy-focused capital projects from planning through to completion, including retrofit and decarbonisation works.
• Develop project briefs, budgets, and manage procurement and tender processes.
• Monitor project progress, costs, and contractors to ensure timely and compliant delivery.
• Implement energy efficiency initiatives and support carbon reduction targets.
• Manage maintenance programmes, including planning, budgeting, and contractor oversight.
• Assess infrastructure condition, utilisation, and support estate strategy planning.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, fire regulations, and relevant standards (e.g. HIQA, building regs).
• Support development and delivery of energy strategies, including funding applications and sustainability programmes.

Minimum Requirements

• Level 8+ qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy Engineering or similar
• Minimum 5+ years’ relevant experience in engineering/project delivery
• Experience in construction, building services, or energy projects
• Knowledge of sustainability / energy efficiency concepts
