Job Description

Fire Prevention Officer

Crewit Resourcing is looking for a Fire Prevention Officer to provide fire risk management advice that protects staff, patients, and the public, while ensuring the organisation complies with all legal and statutory Fire Health & Safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Regular inspection of buildings, means of escape, and fire‑fighting equipment.
  • Ensure equipment is correctly located, marked, maintained, and fully functional.
  • Inspect high-risk premises and report fire prevention breaches
  • Prepare and review fire orders and evacuation plans for all building types, including for non‑ambulant or vulnerable occupants.
  • Produce fire plans for all assigned HSE facilities.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, drills, equipment, incidents, and reports.
  • Train staff on avoiding fire hazards, fire alarm operation, evacuation, and early fire containment.
  • Conduct regular fire drills and ensure proper execution.
  • Test water supply for firefighting volume and pressure; report deficiencies.
  • Ensure hydrants are clearly identified.
  • Provide advice on Health Technical Memorandums, Fire Protection Standards, and Building Regulations.
  • Monitor adequacy of all escape routes.
  • Provide quarterly written reports and immediate reporting of fires or safety breaches.
  • Participate in safety audits, accident investigations, and risk assessments.
  • Support safety training programmes for maintenance staff.
  • Monitor safety performance of external contractors.
  • Contribute to Minor Capital Programme planning related to fire safety
  • Assist with emergency plan development and amendments.
  • Participate in the Integrated Quality and Risk Committee

Qualifications & Experience

  • A Level 7 qualification in engineering, fire engineering, architecture, health & safety, building services, or building surveying OR A Level 6 qualification (pre‑Oct 2010 public service entry) plus minimum 4 years relevant fire & safety experience
  • 2+ years’ comparable Fire & Safety experience.
  • 4+ years’ comparable Fire & Safety experience.
  • Must demonstrate strong technical and managerial capability.
  • Must meet health and character requirements.

Requirements

  • Experience in construction/maintenance of buildings or M&E systems.
  • Fire risk assessment experience.
  • Experience with fire safety certificate applications.
  • Delivery of fire safety training.
  • Knowledge of Fire Services Act (1981 & 2003), HTM 05, Building Control Acts.
  • Strong understanding of fire precautions, H&S, and healthcare safety standards.
  • Good knowledge of building construction, maintenance, and regulations.
  • Planning, organisation, and multi‑tasking skills.
  • Strong communication & presentation ability.
  • Technical and leadership skills.
  • ICT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, internet).

 

Contract: Initial 12‑month fixed-term.

Salary: €54,443 – €83,757

Probation: 12‑month probation period.

Location: Dublin 10
