 Location: Mallow, Co. Cork

 

The General Arrangement Draftsperson / BIM Technician is a key role within a multidisciplinary design environment, with a strong focus on model-based delivery, BIM coordination, and intelligent 3D modelling.

You will work closely with engineers and design professionals to develop and manage coordinated BIM models and General Arrangement (GA) drawings, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and alignment with project requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, coordinate, and manage multi-discipline BIM models, drawings, and schedules
  • Ensure design development aligns with the Project BIM Execution Plan (BEP)
  • Carry out regular model checks, coordination, and structured model-data sharing
  • Act as a liaison between: Mechanical & Electrical Designers and Civil & Structural Designers
  • Attend and contribute to model coordination and clash-detection meetings
  • Maintain model integrity while accurately reflecting design intent
  • Work closely with project teams to understand deliverables, timelines, and priorities
  • Produce high-quality drawings from engineer instructions with minimal supervision
  • Support and collaborate within the CAD/BIM team while continuously developing technical expertise

Requirements:

  • Third-level qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a strong trade background combined with a recognised BIM qualification
  • Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in a BIM Coordination or General Arrangement Drafting role
  • Mechanical or Electrical background with a proven track record in a similar multidisciplinary design environment
  • Strong proficiency in Revit, including model creation and Revit family creation
  • Experience using Navisworks Manage for clash detection, model coordination, and interdisciplinary review
  • Working knowledge of BIM 360 / ACC Docs for model sharing, document control, and collaborative workflows
  • Solid understanding of BIM coordination workflows, BIM execution plans (BEPs), and model-based delivery
  • Experience producing and managing coordinated multi-discipline BIM models, GA drawings, and schedules
  • Experience attending and contributing to model coordination and clash review meetings
  • Ability to carry out regular model checks and maintain model integrity throughout design development
  • Capability to take instructions from engineers and produce accurate, high-quality drawings with minimal supervision
