Job Description:

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a qualified and experienced Health & Safety Officer to oversee the implementation of health and safety procedures on a residential construction site in Dublin 4. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting and maintaining a culture of safety on-site while ensuring full compliance with legal and procedural requirements.

This position reports directly to the Health & Safety Manager and is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills and a practical approach to risk management.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the site construction management team in maintaining a safe, compliant, and productive work environment.
  • Implement and monitor the companys Health & Safety Management System at site level.
  • Identify and address site-specific hazards through proper documentation and action.
  • Maintain all statutory records and safety folders in line with regulations.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with site safety rules and procedures.
  • Assist in the development and review of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Coordinate and communicate with the Health & Safety Manager on safety performance and updates.
  • Carry out regular site audits, inspections, and safety checks; follow up on non-conformances.
  • Participate in accident and incident investigations and reporting.
  • Assist with the planning and delivery of toolbox talks and safety training sessions.
  • Identify training needs and support upskilling efforts for site teams and contractors.
  • Enforce disciplinary procedures in the event of health and safety violations.

 

Candidate Profile:

  • Minimum of 4 yearsexperience in a construction health & safety role.
  • Relevant qualification in Occupational Health & Safety (Diploma/Degree).
  • IOSH membership is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of current health and safety legislation and best practices.
  • Proven ability to manage on-site health and safety independently and confidently.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and organisational skills.
  • Comfortable conducting training sessions and safety meetings.
  • Able to work effectively with multiple contractors across diverse disciplines.
