Job Description:
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a qualified and experienced Health & Safety Officer to oversee the implementation of health and safety procedures on a residential construction site in Dublin 4. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting and maintaining a culture of safety on-site while ensuring full compliance with legal and procedural requirements.
This position reports directly to the Health & Safety Manager and is ideal for a proactive, detail-oriented individual with strong communication skills and a practical approach to risk management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the site construction management team in maintaining a safe, compliant, and productive work environment.
- Implement and monitor the company’s Health & Safety Management System at site level.
- Identify and address site-specific hazards through proper documentation and action.
- Maintain all statutory records and safety folders in line with regulations.
- Ensure contractor compliance with site safety rules and procedures.
- Assist in the development and review of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Coordinate and communicate with the Health & Safety Manager on safety performance and updates.
- Carry out regular site audits, inspections, and safety checks; follow up on non-conformances.
- Participate in accident and incident investigations and reporting.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of toolbox talks and safety training sessions.
- Identify training needs and support upskilling efforts for site teams and contractors.
- Enforce disciplinary procedures in the event of health and safety violations.
Candidate Profile:
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a construction health & safety role.
- Relevant qualification in Occupational Health & Safety (Diploma/Degree).
- IOSH membership is desirable.
- Strong understanding of current health and safety legislation and best practices.
- Proven ability to manage on-site health and safety independently and confidently.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and organisational skills.
- Comfortable conducting training sessions and safety meetings.
- Able to work effectively with multiple contractors across diverse disciplines.
