HGV Mechanic / Plant Fitter

Location: Dingle Peninsula, Co. Kerry
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: From €45,000+ per year / hourly rate (DOE)

About the role:
We are looking for an experienced HGV Mechanic / Plant Fitter to join a busy road surfacing and civil engineering company operating across the Dingle Peninsula and wider Munster region. This is a hands-on role maintaining and repairing HGVs, construction plant, and associated equipment to keep operations safe, compliant, and running smoothly.

What you’ll be doing:

• Routine maintenance and repair of HGVs, plant, and machinery in line with manufacturer standards
• Fault-finding, diagnostics and effective repair, both in the workshop and on-site
• Carrying out pre-use inspections and safety checks
• Completing service records, job sheets and defect reports accurately
• Liaising with site managers/operators to plan maintenance and minimise downtime
• Responding to breakdowns quickly and professionally, including occasional out-of-hours call-outs
• Managing parts, consumables, and workshop stock
• Working safely and following all Health & Safety and environmental procedures

What we’re looking for:

• Qualified HGV Mechanic / Plant Fitter (National Craft Certificate or equivalent)
• Proven experience working on HGVs and construction plant
• Strong diagnostic skills and ability to work on own initiative
• Full clean driving licence (HGV licence an advantage)
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Welding / fabrication and hydraulics experience (highly desirable)
• Safe Pass / Manual Handling (advantage, can be updated)
