HGV Mechanic / Plant Fitter

Location: Co. Kildare (site / workshop-based role with travel to sites as required)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: From €45,000+ per year / hourly rate (DOE)

About the role:
We are recruiting an experienced HGV Mechanic / Plant Fitter for a civil engineering and road surfacing contractor working across Leinster. You’ll be responsible for keeping a mixed fleet of HGVs, surfacing plant, and heavy machinery in safe, reliable working order.

Key duties:

• Service, inspection and repair of HGVs, road surfacing equipment, and general plant
• On-site and workshop-based diagnostics and troubleshooting
• Recording all work carried out (service sheets, defect reports, etc.)
• Carrying out pre-use checks and ensuring equipment is safe and compliant
• Coordinating with operations/site teams to schedule maintenance and reduce downtime
• Attending breakdowns and providing efficient repair, including occasional out-of-hours response
• Managing/ordering parts and consumables
• Working in line with Health & Safety procedures at all times

What you need:

• Trade qualification as HGV Mechanic / Plant Fitter (or equivalent)
• Previous experience maintaining HGVs and heavy construction plant
• Strong fault-finding and electrical/mechanical diagnostic ability
• Full clean driving licence (HGV licence a plus)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a wider maintenance team
• Good communication and record-keeping skills
• Welding / fabrication and hydraulic systems experience is an advantage
• Safe Pass and Manual Handling (or willingness to obtain)

Hours:
Monday–Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm, with flexibility for overtime / emergency call-outs.
