Job Description

Job Title: Mechanical Estimator

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail‑oriented Mechanical Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for mechanical systems on commercial, industrial, and construction projects. This role requires strong technical understanding of mechanical services, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and tender documents
  • Perform quantity take‑offs for HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical systems
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates including labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor components
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain and evaluate quotations
  • Develop Bills of Quantities (BOQs), cost breakdowns, and tender pricing submissions
  • Analyse design documents to identify risks, discrepancies, and value engineering opportunities
  • Prepare tender documents, clarifications, and supporting cost summaries
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams during the tender and handover process
  • Maintain accurate cost databases, historical pricing, and estimating templates
  • Ensure all estimates comply with company standards, industry codes, and project requirements
  • Participate in meetings, site visits, and project briefings as required

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within construction, MEP, or industrial sectors
  • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications
  • Proficiency with estimating software and take‑off tools (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, Planswift)
  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems including HVAC, piping, plumbing, and associated equipment
  • Strong knowledge of materials, labour norms, industry standards, and mechanical codes
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Experience using BIM, AutoCAD, or Revit
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE, SMACNA, CIBSE, or other mechanical standards
  • Experience estimating for medium‑ to large‑scale commercial or industrial projects

Working Conditions
