Mechanical Fitter – Steel Structures & Access Systems

About the Role

We are seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters to join our team on data centre and industrial projects. This role focuses on the installation of steel structures, access platforms, and mechanical support systems. You will work on rooftop installations, industrial grating flooring, handrail systems, and prefabricated steel assemblies in a demanding construction environment.

This position requires a skilled fitter who is comfortable working at height, using specialist tools, and interpreting installation drawings to deliver high-quality work to strict project timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Install steel walkways, access platforms, and industrial grating flooring systems.

• Assemble and install prefabricated steel structures and components.

• Install guardrails, handrail safety systems, and steel support frames/brackets.

• Carry out rooftop mechanical installations, including access structures and steel pipe supports.

• Use magnetic drills, impact guns, torque wrenches, drills, grinders, and other steel installation tools.

• Work with bolted steel connections, ensuring correct alignment and positioning of steel structures.

• Prepare steel assemblies for installation and manage prefabricated components.

• Read and interpret installation drawings, general layout drawings, and installation plans.

• Collaborate with site teams to ensure safe and efficient installation in line with project specifications.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter in industrial, data centre, or large-scale construction projects.

• Demonstrated experience installing steel walkways, access platforms, industrial grating, and handrail systems.

• Competence in using magnetic drills, impact guns, torque wrenches, and power tools (drills, grinders, etc.).

• Experience working with bolted steel connections and prefabricated steel assemblies.

• Ability to read and understand installation drawings, layout drawings, and installation plans.

• Experience with rooftop mechanical installations and steel pipe supports.

• Comfortable working at height and in outdoor conditions.

• Physically fit for heavy installation work.

• Fluent English with the ability to communicate effectively on site.

• Previous experience on data centre projects.

• Experience with mechanical access structures and structural steel alignment.

• Familiarity with preparing steel assemblies prior to installation.
