Job Title: Mechanical Quantity Surveyor

Role Overview
Crewit Resourcing is looking for a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all commercial and contractual aspects of mechanical engineering packages within construction projects. The role ensures accurate cost control, measurement, valuation, forecasting, and reporting across the project lifecycle. The Mechanical QS works closely with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage mechanical project budgets and cost plans.
- Monitor, track, and report project costs, value, and commercial risks.
- Produce monthly cost/value reconciliations (CVRs) and financial forecasts.
- Analyse variations and report their cost impact.
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BoQs) for mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, plumbing, fire protection, etc.).
- Conduct subcontractor and supplier evaluations.
- Prepare tender packages and assist in procurement negotiations.
- Review and compare technical and commercial submissions.
- Administer contracts (NEC, JCT, FIDIC or as required).
- Prepare and submit interim payments, final accounts, and claims.
- Assess and certify subcontractor payments and variations.
- Ensure compliance with contractual terms and project specifications.
- Carry out detailed quantity take-offs from drawings (2D & 3D).
- Measure and value mechanical works on-site for progress claims.
- Update and maintain accurate records of installed works.
- Work closely with mechanical engineers, planners, and site teams.
- Support project teams in value engineering exercises.
- Identify commercial risks early and propose mitigation strategies.
- Track and manage change orders and ensure proper documentation.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering systems (HVAC, piping, fire protection, plumbing, etc.).
- Excellent knowledge of QS practices, cost control, and procurement.
- Proficient in reading mechanical drawings and technical documents.
- Advanced skills in MS Excel, cost management software, and QS tools.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 4+ years of experience as a Mechanical QS (depending on seniority).
- Experience in commercial, industrial, or mechanical-heavy construction projects.
- Familiarity with relevant contract forms (JCT, NEC, FIDIC).
- Professional membership is an advantage (RICS, CIOB, etc.).
