Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Design Engineer who will involve leading the design and delivery of civil engineering projects, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams and clients.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer looking to take ownership of projects and play a key role in the continued growth of a reputable consultancy.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of civil engineering projects from concept through to completion
• Prepare detailed designs, drawings, and specifications for infrastructure works (roads, drainage, utilities, etc.)
• Perform design calculations in line with Irish and international standards
• Oversee and review work produced by junior engineers and technicians
• Coordinate with clients, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure project success
• Attend design meetings, site visits, and provide technical support during construction phases
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and health & safety requirements
• Contribute to project planning, cost estimation, and programme management

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)
• Minimum 6–10 years’ experience in civil engineering design, ideally within a consultancy environment
• Strong knowledge of Irish design standards and regulatory frameworks
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage
• Experience in infrastructure design, including roads, drainage, and site development works
• Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer status (Engineers Ireland or equivalent)
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Desirable

• Experience working on Irish residential, commercial, or public infrastructure projects
• Familiarity with BIM processes and tools
• Client-facing experience and business development exposure
